Artist Collabs: CDG Shirt X Invader
The latest collection from CDG Shirt features a collab with French urban artist, Invader. Comme Des Garcon, well known for their artist collaborations, is using artwork to elevate classic wardrobe pieces.
Working together, they’ve combined CDG’s athleisure staples with Invader’s distinctive graphic accents and paired with neutral colourways. The toned sweaters, knits and totes give way to the iconic 8-bit alien that calls back to the retro video game of Space Invaders.

Who is Invader?
Invader is the French street artist who has been secretly making his mosaic mark across the streets of Paris for the last 20 years. Self-defined as a UFA (Unidentified Free Artist), Invader has managed to keep his identity largely a secret, allowing him to visit his own exhibitions without being recognised.
Crafting his work from ceramic tiles, his mosaics are cemented or glued onto buildings and monuments. The pixilated aliens also lend themselves perfectly to the mosaic form, they are ready-made for tile reproduction.
With over 1,300 works scattered around Paris, Invader’s art is exciting and fun, dotting little ‘Invaders’ across the city. His work may seem recognisable to those who grew up playing the eponymous iconic 80s game, Space Invaders, with his street-art featuring the pixilated adversaries of classic videogames. Invader made it his mission, after enjoying the game growing up, to release the aliens from their 8-bit world and bring them into ours.
If on a trip to Paris, you’d be able to find Invader’s mosaics on all types of buildings, from monuments to government buildings, to shops and residential areas. If there’s a flat surface Invader is keen to make his mark.
While, at first, his work was disdainfully considered vandalism, Invader managed to avoid the police for 20 years. It wasn’t until opinions changed and an appreciation came from the public and critics, that he felt confident enough to reveal his identity in 2018 without fear of being arrested.
Invader sees his work as a movement, a project, where art is liberated from its usual alienators that museums and galleries can be. Decontextualising his art in order to bring it to the streets, for others to enjoy his work. His work can also be considered as an icon for the time we live in – a time where digital technologies are the heartbeat of the world.
